Bryce McNeal enrolled in classes last week at the University of Louisville and, after graduating early from Clemson, was going to be eligible to play two full seasons for the Cardinals. A former 4-star US Army All-American from Minnesota, McNeal appeared to be a huge pick-up late in the game for Charlie Strong and his staff. However, almost just as quickly as he appeared on the team, Strong just as quickly announced his departure today during the weekly Big East teleconference and game-week media gathering at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Strong emphasized the fact that there were no disciplinary issues at hand, rather, this was a case of McNeal no longer wanting to play football. Rumors began flying this weekend that McNeal had left the team, and some were speculating that he couldn’t handle the practice load. Then, yesterday afternoon the football department released the official game-week depth chart and his name was nowhere to be found. Whatever the reasons, we now have final confirmation and Bryce McNeal is no longer part of Card Nation.
