LSL recently caught up with Louisville swingman Wayne Blackshaer and got his thoughts on the upcoming season.
LSL: How has your offseason been?
WB: My offseason has been great. I got away for awhile and cleared my head and strictly thought about basketball and worked out. I got my confidence back and got over being injured.
LSL: What do you envision your role as this year?
WB: A lot bigger. I’m an older guy now, a junior and a lot more is expected of me in all areas of my game.
LSL; Why can this team repeat?
WB: We have the guys to do it. Obviously we lost some pros in Gorgui and Peyton, but I think we added some pieces this year. Mangok will be playing a lot and Anton, Chris, and Terry can all play.
LSL: Out of those newcomers, who has impressed you the most?
WB: All of them are impressive. They can all do different things; Anton is athletic, Chris is a point guard who is very different from Peyton, and Terry is a scorer. They all bring different things to the table.
LSL: What was it like walking around town being a national champion?
WB: It was great. Obviously, everybody knew who we were before, but for the fans, it made them even happier. For us winning, it made the fans feel like they won also. It’s great that the fans interact with like that.
