Saturday’s Governor’s Cup clash will serve as a major recruiting weekend for Coach Petrino and staff. In addition to several in-state prospects, a few 4-star visitors will be attending the game as well. JUCO CB Rasul Douglas, RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn, and OL Josh Wariboko are the top rated recruits visiting this weekend. Also visiting are current commit WR Dahu Green and early signee Traveon Samuel. Currently, UofL’s 2015 class is ranked 31st nationally and 6th in the ACC.
As is the case with recruiting, more news generally trickles out closer to the visit date. The C-J’s Steve Jones gives you a rundown of the impressive visitor list. As we said on the radio show earlier this week, this game is important on two fronts; on the field and in recruiting. If UofL can land a few of the guys visiting this weekend, it will likely be the best class in school history.
One of the nation’s best interior offensive lineman, a four-star running back and a three-star quarterback who recently withdrew a commitment from Mississippi State are among a big, top-notch group of recruiting targets expected to take visits to the University of Louisville this weekend and attend the regular-season finale against Kentucky.
With nine expected official visitors and about 20 others likely taking unofficial trips, it could end up as arguably the most impressive group of prospects the Cards have had on campus since Bobby Petrino was rehired as coach. It’ll be a mix of highly regarded targets – both from high school and junior college – and players already committed to the Cards.
