As first reported by Scout.com’s Jason Higdon, Clint Hurtt is leaving Louisville for a job with the Chicago Bears.  Footballscoop.com is reporting that it is an assistant defensive line coach position.  Unless Hurtt didn’t mesh well with Petrino and the new staff, this is a puzzling move.  Back in October, UofL AD Tom Jurich took to Clint’s defense and retained him even when the NCAA slapped him with a “show cause” penalty.  With that, Hurtt wasn’t able to go out on the recruiting trail until this summer.  There is already speculation that he is simply buying time in the NFL before he can re-join Coach Strong at Texas.  However, it’s much too early to tell if UT would even want to jump through the hoops, or take a black eye for someone who has had trouble with the NCAA.  We’ll keep you posted when more details become available.
