UK’s Randle on Louisville: “This is the game they live for.”

It’s Monday of Louisville-Kentucky week so you can officially cue the smack talk.  A couple of weeks ago Kevin Ware told the assembled media that, “we don’t care that Kentucky exists.”  And for the majority of the Louisville players that’s true because they aren’t from the Commonwealth.  You could question if that statement was really smack talk or not.  After UK’s win over Belmont, freshman standout Julius Randle was asked about the ‘Dream Game’ and offered up this quote.

“It’s just going to be a really high-energy game for us and for the fans. This is the game they (the Cardinals) live for. This is probably the most important game for them other than the national championship game,” Randle said.

Now, upon further review, he’s talking out of both sides of his mouth.  One side he said that the UK game is what they live for, then quickly mentioned “other than the national championship game.”  Yeah Julius, big bad Kentucky – losers of 15 games over the past season and a half – is THE game the Cards live for.  More important than the conference tournament, the NCAAs, and even a Final Four.  It seems he’s a little jaded since his squad has already lost the Michigan State, Baylor, and North Carolina Super Bowls.

Is it game day yet?

Um, Randle is talking about Kentucky fans. This is the game Kentucky fans live for. This is probably the most important game for Kentucky fans other than the national championship.

You be the judge. The question starts at the 4:24 mark:

Even the folks at "Inside the Ville" figured out, after watching the video, that Randle isn't talking about Louisville fans:

Note who started that thread. I'm afraid LSL got this one wrong, with an assist from Larry Vaught. When you rely on what someone else says, instead of verifying for yourself (how much time could it possibly have taken here?), you sometimes end up looking foolish. Isn't that basically what ended Dan Rather's career at CBS?
