Rick Pitino has been hitting the recruiting trail hard over the last few days and apparently he’s not letting up any time soon. After his team came back and heroically defeated Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon, Pitino briefly met with reporters before hopping on a plane and headed out west to watch prospects in the Phoenix area. Now, according to Zag’s Blog, the Hall of Famer was back at it Monday night as he visited Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) teammates Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter. Zimmerman (6’11, 225 lbs), the #1 rated center in the 2015 class, also holds offers from Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, UNLV and North Carolina but reportedly now has Louisville near the top of his list. Jeter (6’10, 220 lbs) is also a 5-star 2015 prospect and is currently rated as the 5th best power forward in his class according to 247 Sports. He holds offers from Arizona, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Oregon and many others. Pitino has extended scholarship offers to both players in person and has watched the pair at least three times over the last several months.
Louisville head coach Rick Pitino visited Monday with Las Vegas Bishop Gorman 2015 big men Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter (pictured at left).
“It was the first we met him, so he just told us general things about the school and how he runs practices, coaches, etc.,” Kim Jeter, Chase’s mother, told SNY.tv. “Great visit!”
Kim said there was a “possibility” that the 6-foot-10 Chase could visit Louisville. He takes an unofficial to Arizona this weekend, and an official to Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game, the same weekend uncommitted 2014 big man Myles Turner visits.
Pitino was visiting the 7-foot Zimmerman for the third time.
Lori Zimmerman said her son may take an unofficial to Louisville “this summer.”
As for what Pitino said, she told SNY.tv: “He talked about Stephen’s season and what he feels will help develop Stephen for the next level.”
