– Looks like you can’t change a tiger’s stripes……or is it a leopard’s spots? Regardless, one thing’s for sure, you can’t take the dumb out of Derrick Caracter. Apparently, he was arrested late Saturday night / early Sunday morning in the Big Easy while the rest of his teammates were sleeping and preparing for the forthcoming huge playoff tilt against the Hornets. Stay classy DC, we miss you big fella.

– Word around the Louisville basketball program is that a press conference has been schedueld for Tuesday afternoon. Most likely it will be to announce the new hirings for the three vacant assistant positions. Three names (in addition to Richard Pitino, who has already accepted in principle) have continuously been reported as the front-runners. Look for two of these three to be announced very soon: Wyking Jones – current assistant at New Mexico, Will Wade – current assistant at VCU, or Kevin Keatts – current head coach at Hargrave Military Institute (prep).

– It looks like the Kevin Ware drama has finally come to an end. After committing to UCF early last week and then telling anyone who would listen that he was going to end up as a Cardinal while he was here in town for the Derby Festival Classic, Ware has apparently re-confirmed his pledge to UCF. Enjoy wallowing in complete obscurity over the next four years, Kevin. It’s been real.

– Last week also brought about news that troubled Louisville prospect, Tony Woods, was going to re-open his recruitment in the wake of Tim Fuller’s departure to Missouri. Now it appears that Missouri has emerged as a plausible destination for Woods. It’s unclear where things stand with Woods, his camp, and U of L. Things should start to shake out soon with the new coaching additions to the Cardinals staff.

– While it continues to be unclear whether Rick Pitino and Louisville will hold on to the coveted commitment of 2012 star point-guard Rodney Purvis, it’s important to note that a few new names have popped up on the recruiting radar. During our podcast last Wednesday, both Mike Hughes (Inside The Ville) and Evan Daniels (Scout.com) told us to be on the look-out for two new huge targets in 2012: D’vauntes Smith-Rivera and Alex Poythress. I couldn’d find any quality videos to embed, but here are some direct youtube links to highlight clips for each player. Poythress and   Smith-Rivera
