News broke Monday morning that 6’8 PF Noah Vonleh would be reclassifying from the 2014 class to the 2013 class. My immediate reaction was that with Akoy Agau already committed, Louisville would stop pursuing Vonleh. Apparently, they are doing just the opposite. Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com tweeted that a member of Louisville’s staff would be in New Hampshire today to see five-star power forward.

One could make the argument that Vonleh and Agau are two different types of power fowards. Agau, being 6’10, may lean towards the power forward/center hybrid while Vonleh, being only 6’8, may be more inclined to stretch the defense out on the perimeter with his versatility. About Vonleh’s positioning,  ESPN’s national recruiting expert Dave Telep said, “Vonleh’s length, rebounding and overall skill set should allow him to play both the small and power forward positions.”  If he can truly play the small forward position like Telep says, then I am all for allocating the manpower to try to land a commitment from Vonleh.

Before reclassifying, Noah Vonleh was ranked #4 in the class of 2014 by ESPN. In the 2013 class, ESPN ranks him #7. Below is Vonleh’s highlights from this past season at New Hampton.

yeah, that's what it looks like. He would fit in great in Pitino''s system.

  3. Rick J Said,

He looks smaller than 6'8" when he handles the ball, bigger when he gets to the rim.

I'd say play him at SF; but where are we getting the room on the roster? Aren't we already one over for 2013? Will Pitino be advising that many of our current players to go Pro?

Have to say, whatever the scholarship situation I am loving it that we are in on so many good players. Very exciting.
