The mirror games and complete conference schedule for the 2012-2013 men’s basketball season was just released and the Cards will play Syracuse, South Florida, Seton Hall and Notre Dame twice. This now marks the third time in the last four years that Louisville will play Syracuse twice in the same regular season. Louisville’s home schedule will include the aforementioned teams, as well as Cincinnati (finally), Providence, Pittsburgh, Marquette and St. Johns. The road schedule goes as follows: at the four previously mentioned mirror opponents, Uconn, Rutgers, Villanova, Georgetown and DePaul. Here’s a bit more from the official UofL release, which can be found right here.
Louisville is one of six BIG EAST teams which have been included in early rankings, including two of the Cardinals’ repeat opponents in Syracuse and Notre Dame (also Cincinnati, Marquette and Villanova). UofL is second nationally in preseason rankings by ESPN.com (Andy Katz), SI.com (Luke Winn) and NBCSports.com (Mike Miller) while the Cardinals are third in three other rankings by CBSSports.com (Gary Parrish, Jeff Goodman), Yahoo.com (Mike Huegenin) and SportingNews.com (Mike DeCourcy).
U of L will welcome back three starters and 11 lettermen from last season’s successful team which won the BIG EAST Conference tournament championship and reached the Cardinals’ ninth NCAA Final Four. The Cardinals’ 30-10 record marked just the sixth time in school history that UofL had won 30 games in a season.
A complete schedule, including dates and times for the BIG EAST games, is expected in early September.
Ummmm, is it November yet?
