In case you missed it, Huntington Prep big man Moses Kingsley committed to Arkansas on Saturday afternoon. The 6-10 Nigerian native will join his Arkansas Wings AAU teammate Bobby Portis to give the Razorbacks an incredibly formidable frontcourt starting next season. Louisville had made Kingsley a top priority all spring and summer and followed him relentlessly on the recruiting trail. Cardinal assistant Wyking Jones traveled to Huntington Prep last week and visited with Kingsley (who was unable to work-out due to contracting Malaria while visiting his native Nigeria). Kingsley had Louisville in his final three and was scheduled to take an official visit later this month.
Rick Pitino will likely turn his full attention to a trio of 2013 forwards in Akoy Agau, Marcus Lee and Troy Williams. While it was rumored that Williams would be a package deal with his AAU teammate Anthony Barber, that now looks unlikely after Barber gave his verbal to NC State this weekend. According to this update from Steve Jones of the Courier Journal, Williams remains very interested in Louisville. Rick Pitino and Kevin Keatts visited Williams at Oak Hill Academy last week and also saw his uncle (Boo Williams and family) on the other side of the state that same day. Agau, a 6-9 power forward from Omaha, Nebraska, was on campus this weekend for an unofficial visit. Lee officially visited Louisville last weekend and has said that his final three consists of Louisville, Kentucky and California.
All of the major recruiting sites are reporting that JUCO point guard Chris Jones (a one time Tennessee commit with Kevin Ware) loved his visit to Louisville this weekend and that the Cards are probably the team to beat at this point. Jones returned to Florida last night and is going to discuss things with head coach Steve Forbes and then likely make a decision today or tomorrow. A good source told us yesterday that it’s a done deal and Jones is just going to iron out the details and then make a formal announcement. The campus, city, fans and relationships with the current players were too much to pass and the immediate playing time is just the icing on the cake. Expect Jones to become the next Cardinal commit by tomorrow morning.
