According to a press release from Kenny Klein and the Louisville athletic department, Louisville freshman power forward Akoy Agau has been suspended from the team indefinitely. So, if you’re wondering exactly what “indefinite” means, well, join the club. Truth is, this thing could be one week or it could be forever. I’m leaning towards the former since I can think of at least five players in the last 3-4 years who have had that same tag put next to their suspensions, only to see them suit back up and play within a few weeks from the time of their original misdeed(s). Louisville’s play-by-play man (and all-around good guy) Paul Rogers sent out a tweet a few minutes ago that also eluded to the fact that the suspension is likely more to do with an attitude adjustment, as opposed to something that could ultimately jeopardize his future with the team.
Let’s hope Paul is on the money with those thoughts. Here’s the official release from UofL:
University of Louisville forward Akoy Agau has been suspended indefinitely from the Cardinals’ men’s basketball team.
A 6-8 freshman from Omaha, Neb., Agau (pronounced uh-KOY uh-GOW; like cow with a “G”) has appeared in seven games this season, scoring two points and grabbing seven rebounds. He averaged 12.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and blocked 81 shots as a senior last season in leading Omaha Central to a 26-4 record and a fourth straight Nebraska Class A state championship.
