Donovan Mitchell Shows Off at NBA Rookie Photo Shoot

On Friday, Donovan Mitchell participated in the annual NBA Rookie Photo Shoot presented by Panini America.

Donovan Mitchell is the latest University of Louisville product to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft. He was selected 13th overall by the Denver Nuggets before being sent to the Utah Jazz via trade.

After piecing together multiple stunning performances in NBA Summer League action, Mitchell has entered the dog days of summer. This is the slow period prior to the start of NBA training camps, which will begin in late-September.

One event which spices up the offseason is the annual NBA Rookie Photo Shoot, which is currently hosted and led by Panini America, known for their trading cards and memorabilia.

This year’s photo shoot is more special than normal because Adidas has lost their license for the NBA’s uniforms. Nike has overtaken the crown, which means all 30 franchises have received new uniforms. Some received relatively minor alterations, yet others have received a total makeover.

For Donovan Mitchell, he was representing his Utah Jazz in one of the first few appearances by the new Nike Jazz uniform.

Donovan has not played one regular season NBA game yet, but you can already sense the marketability he possesses. He is destined for stardom. His shooting range continues to increase, too.

From this photo shoot, Panini and the NBA will use photos for various promotions, including advertisements, trading cards, decals, and more.

Speaking of trading cards, Louisville fans will not have to wait much longer until they can get their hands on some of Donovan Mitchell’s first NBA rookie cards, including autographed versions. He did some signing for Panini after the photo shoot.

You will be seeing some crazy action shots when you see print media depicting Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz.

Lastly, you cannot forget the group photo from a Draft class which might become legendary.

Take a look back at former Louisville Cardinals fan favorites in past NBA Rookie photo shoots.

Can you spot “Russdiculous” from the 2014 group photo?

It is important to note that Mitchell’s former Louisville teammate, Mangok Mathiang, was not in attendance because only 40 NBA draftees were invited to this event. He went undrafted, but is now a member of the Charlotte Hornets via two-way contract
