Even though he only appeared in 6 games this season, Louisville star wide receiver DeVante Parker still made plenty of noise and certainly left a lasting impression on college football. In those 6 games he hauled in 43 catches, scored 5 touchdowns and finished with 855 receiving yards. For some context, Louisville’s second leading receiver, James Quick, appeared in 12 games and caught 7 fewer balls and nearly 300 yards less receiving. Basically, Parker is good……..really good. So good, in fact, that his future NFL stock continues to soar to new heights. In their latest Mock Draft, SB Nation has Parker listed 4th overall, going to the Oakland Raiders.
4. Oakland Raiders: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
How can a player who went No. 11 in last week’s mock draft shoot up into the top five? Because we have no idea what is going to happen between now and the start of the draft. If we make an assumption that players will rise throughout the offseason process, Parker is a good bet to rise. He’s a bigger and faster wide receiver than Amari Cooper and plays at a position where we’ve seen that vault a player. Parker’s skill set is that of a No. 1 receiver. This isn’t too early for him to get picked.
Now, to be fair, this is just one website’s opinion. However, if you take a quick look across the internet, SB Nation is not alone in their high-first-round analysis. Bleacher Report has Parker listed 12th overall going to Cleveland, CBS Sports and Pro Football / Scout have him pegged 18th overall going to Kansas City and ESPN’s Todd McShay has him 11th overall heading to Minnesota to re-unite with Teddy Bridgewater.
Regardless of his exact landing spot, Parker is about to get paid.
