The college football previews are now out in the Louisville area book stores and the Cards received pretty good reviews overall. The Cards sit on the outside fringe of most of the preseason top 25 polls, allowing the team to play with a collective chip on its shoulder. LSL will give you a sneak peek of what the presason magazine have to say about the Cards and the ACC. First up is the Sporting News.
Louisville’s rank: Not ranked in the Top 25
Louisville’s predicted finish in the ACC: 3rd in Atlantic Division
ACC Atlantic Projections: FSU, Clemson, Louisville, Boston College, Syracuse, N.C. State, Wake Forest
Other opponents: Miami: 2nd in Coastal, Virginia: 7th in Coastal, Murray State: 5th in the OVC, FIU: 7th in C-USA East, Notre Dame 14th nationally, UK: 7th in SEC East.
All-Americans: Charles Gaines, 3rd Team
All-ACC: DeVante Parker, Charles Gaines
Rankings of UofL opponents: Florida State #3, Notre Dame #14
Bowl Prediction: Music City vs. Texas A&M
What Sporting News says about Louisville: “Bridgewater’s departure means the offense won’t overwhelm opponents quite so easily, but Petrino’s history suggests he’ll do just fine in that area. Still, establishing a new quarterback will be a priority. After an opener against Miami, there will be some time to adapt before facing Clemson, Florida State, and Notre Dame in the second half of the season.”
LSL’s take: The Sporting News previews are always among the best. This is a recommended purchase because of their conference overview and their easy to read pertinent information in each team preview capsule.
