Coach Pitino Blogs About Supporting The Big East….Again

Posted on Sep 29 2011 - 7:19pm by Ethan Moore

Even Sosa knows we should move to the Big 12….

I’m not sure if this is a joke, or if Rick is just being overly sentimental since he is up in New York recruiting.  He again blogs about the Big East actually being a viable option for UofL.  It’s now getting to the point where it’s beyond annoying and we’re starting to believe he is the ONLY person who thinks UofL staying in the Big East could be a good thing.  The faster he realizes this is a football-first move that will benefit the entire athletics department and university, the better off he will be.  Is he doing this as part of “Pitinospeak” to make it look like UofL is behind the Big East before they move, or does Jurich need to step in and put a muzzle on him?  Seriously. Here are some nuggets:

*There are so many reports about the demise of the Big East. Not only is that is false, but the Big East won’t lose a step!

*Pitt is a different story, their style of basketball is all Big East but their administration views could be elsewhere. We will have them both for the next two years.

*The big question for those who concern themselves with the future: Who will play in more football BCS bowl games? UConn, TCU, USF, or Louisville compared to Big East defections BC, Virginia Tech, Miami, and now Pitt and Syracuse.  (There won’t be a BCS bid for the Big East in 2 years Coach, and TCU isn’t coming anymore).

*DePaul will press their way back into competitiveness.

CRP is loyal to a fault, just look at the strange vag JoAnne has cost him. His faith and values has limited him to only 6 or 7 sexual partners a year. That man is a rock.

Speaking of men that rock, Trace Adkins will be at PJCS, just like my former lover Pahpsmir (we are still friends) said earlier, Cowboys butts drive me nuts. I'm getting so excited to see him in those tight jeans.

He has stated his opinion enough and we get it; he wants to stay in the BE. That would move would destroy the university because we would be outside of the BCS. Promoting schools like DePaul, Seton Hall, and Rutgers and acting like TCU will stay in this mess makes him and the school look silly.

I like your name Cool Vagina, it shows that you're in touch with the feminine side of yourself. Hmmm…now we have a Pahpsmir and a Cool Vagina posting. I like that…the only problem is that I fear Cool Vagina may be a troll. Your posts are eerily too similar to Red & Black's.

I take back what I said in an early thread about Rick being smart and just saying all this to help him and L'ville save some face with the Big Easters in the Northeast. I think he is delusional…he's beating a dead horse.

If he really is a BE homer as it appears, anyone think a move would eventually lead him to leave L'ville? I would rather be in a conference like the Big 12 and have a new coach…than be in conference USA 2.0 with Rick as the coach.

Yea…he'd probably leave if that were the case. Staying in the BE just to keep 'Pitino First' would be a HUGE mistake! I don't care what his contract states…he's retiring within 2-3 years at the LATEST. He's holding the program hostage and potentially burying it because his ego is getting in the way.

What happens if we stay in the BE and then he leaves shortly after? Who the hell would want to come coach us in that soon to be washed up conference? His affect on influencing the administration could lead to a path of destruction for both the bball and ftball team. Hopefully Jurich is just letting him rant and not taking his opinion seriously. I can honestly vision Pitino First saying he'll leave immediately if they go to the Big 12. He'll throw an ultimatum at Jurich…I promise you.

That's where I'm going to have to disagree. If Louisville stays in the Big East it will still be a better conference than the SEC & PAC 12 in basketball. & on par with the rest of the major conferences. Louisville will always be a top flight basketball job b/c we sell out every game, play in the best basketball arena, and there's job security. Louisville has only has 3 coaches in the last 50 years so a coach will love the fact the he will get a chance to build a program the way he see's fit. Nothing can destroy Louisville's basketball program.

Theoretically nothing can destroy either program (bball & fball)…the downfall of each program will depend on the expectation level. Being used to the "old" BE is like going from a filet mignon then having to constantly accept a bologna sandwich. This will hurt recruiting as well. Players do not care about the arena…it's icing on the cake but that's it.

I disagree somewhat with your basketball comments. Losing Syracuse, Pitt and UCONN itching to leave will be a crushing blow to the conference. Replacing those teams with the likes of Navy, Air Force, TCU, etc. makes the BE bottom half VERY VERY VERY poor in comparison to other conferences. I'm sorry, but with the exception of the Cards, only Georgetown and Cincinnati have/ had decent tradition. But again…Navy, Air Force, TCU (if they stay), S. Florida, Seton Hall and East Carolina (potentially)…that is the same or maybe a notch higher than the old C-USA.

The only way top recruits come to play in a conference like that is for the coach ONLY. Recruits want to play in the ACC and the BE of last year. Schools like KU, UK, UCLA, Arizona and Texas get recruits because of the coach and partially the name on the jersey (excluding Texas & Arizona due to name).

I was basing that on if UConn stays. You also left out Marquette, Villanova, and St Johns, all 3 have tremendous basketball traditions and bright young coaches that will bring in top recruits every year. WVU isn't to bad either, remember they broke sUcKs hearts 2 years ago. If Uconn does leave you can rest assure that Memphis and Temple with both be in the Big East. So u would have Louisville, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Georgetown, St Johns, Marquette, Villanova, Temple, and Memphis. All of these teams I just mentioned might be in the top 25 next year. The service academies wont join basketball, so their out, and that leaves TCU (maybe) USF, Seton Hall, Depaul, and ECU. The Big East will still be either the best or next best basketball Conference behind the ACC.

Tremendous? Wow…what do you consider UNC, Duke, KU, UK and UCLA's to be? Yes, WVU did break sUcKs heart two years ago…I didn't know that was the measuring stick though? Thanks for the clarification.

Ohhh…I didn't know the service academies would not join. Got it…then yes…that would be a stellar basketball conference.

But UNC, Duke, KU, UK, & UCLA aren't all in the same conference. And WVU beating UK isn't a measuring stick for anything, since UK loses to the big east on a regular bases. All I'm saying is CRP is right about one thing, the Big East wouldn't lose a step in basketball, but football would almost certainly lose it's BCS bid.

I never said they were in the same conference. You claimed Marquette, Villanova, and St Johns, all 3 have tremendous basketball traditions. My question to you was what do you consider UNC, Duke, KU, UK and UCLA's to be then? I was just a little taken back by the tremendous tradition comment in regards to those teams. Anything but "tremendous".

So the BE 3-5 vs. Calipari (while at UK) is on a regular basis? Hmmm…interesting math. I guess it works 60% of the time all the time! LOL!! Anyway, I'll play along with the delusional thinking. I'll tell you one thing…it does make me feel better as a Card fan…so sure…I'm on board! L-Yeah Baby!!!

Yea, Tremendous. Those teams have all made regular appearances in the Tournament, been to final fours, won championships, and are all rated in the top 25 basketball programs of all time according to almost any sports writer. Just like Duke, UNC, UK, and KU. Some are better than others.

I'm guessing here but Cal's SEC record is what? Something like 30+wins and like 4 losses? So obviously he wouldn't fair as well in a good basketball conference, such as the big east. Everyone can plainly see you're a UK homer just as I'm a U of L homer. What's sad is that you type things like sUcK just go go along with the notion that you're a Louisville fan. It will be a cold day in hell before I post on a UK site, posing as a UK fan, and type garbage about my team just to seem cute. Come on man, have some pride in your team, I get that you're a troll, but be honest troll.
