This Saturday, October 6th at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, the 3rd annual Climb Strong fundraiser will take place, organized by the Kentucky/West Virginia chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The mission is to raise money to conduct research in order to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, a life-threatening disease that causes thick mucous to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body. It is one of the most serious lung diseases in young children, as well as adults, and deserves our attention. There is still time to register for the climb, which begins at 6 pm. Here is some further information on the event from the organizations website.
CLIMB STRONG! Join us for the 3rd Annual CF Climb with honorary chairs Coach Charlie and Vicki Strong. The CF Climb is an exhilarating stair-climbing and fundraising event that supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This is a timed event where you can compete for prizes or climb at your own pace. Gather your family, friends and co-workers at Papa John’s Stadium to join you in climbing the stairs and then celebrate with food, drinks, entertainments and event awards at the tailgate/survivors’ party.
One of my very good friends lives with this disease and he created his own charity (link) to raise money for research and awareness, of which I and many other friends have been involved with. I can tell you just how difficult it is to live with this disease, and he is among the bravest, most inspiring people I have ever met. It is a very worthy cause, and if you are interested, I highly recommend heading out to PJCS for a good time for a great cause.
