The C-J’s Jeff Greer provided some insight into the ’15-’16 slate a few weeks ago….

The University of Louisville basketball team is close to finalizing its nonconference schedule for the 2015-16 season.

The Cardinals are set to play road games at Kentucky and Michigan State, a neutral-site game in Brooklyn against Saint Louis and 10 home contests, including three games as part of the Brooklyn Hoops Classic and another two as part of the annual Billy Minardi Classic, according to game contracts obtained through a public records request by The Courier-Journal.

The non-ACC schedule isn’t full of blockbuster games, though U of L coach Rick Pitino has said in recent months that, with his team set to play one of the toughest league slates in college basketball, the Cards had to balance their nonleague schedule.

Kentucky (Dec. 26) and Michigan State (Dec. 2) are the only teams on Louisville’s nonconference slate that ranked in the RPI’s top 100 last season. The Michigan State game in East Lansing, Mich., is this year’s installment of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
