According to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, Louisville is still in the hunt for Chris Walker, the #6 overall player and #1 overall center in Scout.com’d class of 2013 rankings. The 6″10 big man out of Florida is now listing seven schools (Kentucky, Florida, Kansas, Ohio State, Baylor, Louisville and Syracuse), and if this tweet is any indication, it would appear that there were whispers that Louisville was in his top four schools, a claim he denies.
However, this quote in Zagoria’s article is very telling about Walker’s intentions:
Wherever he goes, it won’t be for long.
“Yes sir, my goal is still to be one-and-done,” he said. “If I put in the hard work, I think I can do it.”
Pitino recruits the players who will buy into his mantra of “Louisville First,” and I am not sure how much mutual interest there would be for a player who has already openly stated he will not be in college for more than a year. However, players with Walker’s talent are hard to come by, and if Pitino could land him, it would be a major snag. At the very least, it is always a pleasant reminder to see we are still an attractive program to top 10 players.
